The staff was very welcoming especially after a long day of travel and asked if we wanted to upgrade our room - which we did and were very happy. We were able to watch the sunrises over St. John and was nice to wake up to. The beach was a little small and rocky - you need beach socks to be comfortable. Wyndham Hotel is located near Red Hook in St Thomas which is a great area to be. It is close to the Ferry that goes over to St John and there is wonderful snorkeling at nearby beaches. The hotel is set in a hill and most rooms seem to have a water view. The pool/beach area is the place to be. My husband and I have stayed here probably 2-3 times a year for 6 years. We love it and the people who work here are the best...some of whom have become our closest friends. The manager was very attentive. Housekeeping never changed the bed linens the 4 days during our stay, we had to call for towels and soap after room was cleaned. The biggest problems we had was ants/spiders(not sure what they were) and cats on the property!! I despise cats and they were all over the property by the rooms. My wife and 16 year old son just returned from the Virgin Islands where we stayed at Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa. Our stay would have been flawless had it not been for one staff member who worked in the spa. This lady was extremely rude and had a very nasty attitude. The Wyndham is in a beautiful spot away from the downtown area / cruise ships. We were very happy with our room and it was great to have a pool and our own beach. A few things to beware of though - we had a $100 credit towards food, but it's very expensive at the hotel and they automatically add in a tip (18%, I think, and the service was so-so) and a service charge.... meer
