We had all our guests stay here at the Upham for our wedding weekend and everyone simply raved about the beauty of the rooms and the grounds, and what a pleasure it was to stay here. Highlights are the wine/cheese/cracker hour and milk and cookies in the evening in the lovely lobby/lounge area. I always love staying at the Upham for the staff are always so kind, the rooms are cozy with great comforters and a charming decor. It is a large property so you can sit on the gazebo chairs or lawn and overlook the colorful gardens and bungalow rooms. The service each morning-fresh coffee-quiche-the evening time with the fire place downstairs meeting with all our friends and tasting the wine we bought on our tour of the vineyards in the valley-all of this done by a staff of wonerfull people that seemed to be invisable-unless you needed them-5 stars from my wife and I. meer

We had an unbelievable time staying at The Upham cottage with 7 couples to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our friends. We had wonderful rooms, seemed to have been recently updated. The food and snacks (and wine) were yummie and always out when promised. In the mornings, lounging in our robes we were completely relaxed. We spotted the Upham Hotel last year, took a peak inside, and decided this year we would return to Santa Barbara and stay here. Besides the friendly service, we enjoyed the tranquility of the place as well as the lovely gardens and total atmosphere. My husband and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and invited 6 couples to join us in Santa Barbara for the weekend. We stayed at The Upham in the Country House where we had 7 of the 8 rooms in the beautiful historic house. Everyone agreed it was perfect setting for our group. The Upham is located in a fantastic spot off of State Street restaurants and shopping. It is charming and romantic. We stayed in the main house and the room was adequate; however, nothing too exciting to speak of. I stayed in the Garden Building in a room that felt like a little European walk-up apartment. It was charming, comfortable, clean and quiet, the staff was helpful, the continental breakfasts were outstanding... I can't say enough about it. It was also interesting to read about the history of the Inn and know that I was staying in the oldest hotel in Santa Barbara. I haven't stayed in other hotels like it in Santa Barbara... meer
